MONTGOMERY COUNTY'S CO-PARENTING SEMINAR: CHILDREN COME FIRST
Research has shown that when parents have conflict; it negatively affects the kids. The Children Come First seminar is designed to educate parents on the most effective ways to work with one another for the best interest of their kids. We understand this is not always easy, so in this seminar, we will give you tools to be able to work more cooperatively with your other parent for the best interest of your child.

GENERAL INFORMATION
The Children Come First seminar meets the requirements of Domestic Relations in Montgomery County, PA. Seminars are offered on several different dates and times each month and classes are kept to 25 people. Once a seminar is filled, it will be closed for new registrations. The seminars are 90 minutes in length and you will have a certificate of completion filed with the Montgomery County Courts after the seminar is complete. You must attend in person and stay for the duration of the seminar to receive your certificate of completion. The seminars are offered in English.

COURT MANDATE INFORMATION

Pursuant to Montgomery County Local Rule 1915.3, in an action for custody, partial custody, or visitation, parties must attend an approved educational seminar on the general responsibilities of parents or guardians.  Please note, however, that seminar attendance is NOT required in connection with any petition to modify custody where the parties have already attended the seminar within the past two (2) years.  Further note that seminar attendance is required of all parties, regardless of current or previous marital status or relationship.

Do I have to attend the date suggested from the court?

No it is just a suggested date. Please pick the date and time that works for you on our calendar.  

If you don’t have sufficient funds, you can apply with the court to have the fee waived. If you are successful you would need to bring in that documentation to your session. You can use the offline payment option on our website to register.  

Will I get in trouble if I don’t attend the seminar?

It is court mandated if you received a letter from the courts, so if a party doesn’t attend they will be in contempt of the order.  

If you do not want to be in the same session as someone else, you can email us and we will do what we can to ensure that doesn’t happen.  

What should I do if I have to reschedule but I already paid and registered for an upcoming seminar?

You can cancel your seminar and reschedule for another one if you do so 7 days in advance. Otherwise a new registration will have to be paid for. If you have paid by Credit card or Paypal, you would need to use offline payment for the new registration and email us stating how and when you paid.  

Can I pay upon arrival?

No, you must pay in advance. If you use a check or money order for payment, we must receive it 7 days prior to your scheduled seminar date.  

I mailed in my registration form with my check and haven’t received confirmation yet, what should I do?

You can go onto thechildrencomefirst.com website and register online and select offline payment. We do not send paper confirmations out. Also you can email us to confirm as well.
